What to Expect in Regular Visits and Adjustments
Each visit after the first examination will vary depending on the diagnosis and treatment plan. In most cases, there is no single magic technique to cure everything. We chose 2-3 necessary techniques each time to adjust the injured (subluxation) vertebral joints to recover their motion. This process will help the damaged muscles go through the inflammation, repairing and remodeling phase properly.
1.CMT(Chiropractic Manual technique)
Atlas Orthogonality, Diversified, activator and mobilization are used to treat spinal joint subluxations.
2. Soft tissue technique.
a. Myofascial release: Applied to a specific muscle group, designed to reduce muscle spasm, disperse adhesion, scar tissue, increase circulation, and restore normal muscle tone.
b. Neuro-muscular re-education: Designed to re-establish, re-educate and strengthen muscles or groups and /or increase joint flexibility.
3. Physical therapeutics.
a. Intersegmental spinal traction: To re-establish curves of the spine, facilitate distraction of joint facets, reduce muscle spasm, edema, tissue congestion, reduce fibrotic tissue and adhesions.
b. Moist heat: To improve local circulation, release pain, and also to release sustained muscle spasm.
d. Cryotherapy: For acute musculoskeletal sprains and some neuromuscular conditions.
e. Cold laser therapy (Light Amplification via Stimulated Emission of Radiation) for nerve tracing, hot and cold imbalance and relaxation response of connective tissue.
f. Home exercise to strengthen paravetebral musculatures and improve joint ROM.
The doctor spends roughly 15 minutes on adjustments and deep
tissue muscle therapy. After the adjustment, therapeutic exercise, posture corrective block
therapy or traction table are applied.
After the first chiropractic adjustment, you may experience a variety of changes within your body. These are due to the nervous system responding to the structural correction. Symptoms are a positive sign that healing is taking place. In order to heal, the body must go through different cycles of repair which very often express themselves in some of the following ways:
You should not be concerned if the pain changes or moves to another area of the body. Symptoms may decrease immediately. However, the amount of misalignment and severity of the condition will determine the recovery time. Please make the doctor aware of any and all changes. Remember, pain is a sign that the body is working, any changes can be part of the healing process.
Auto crash injury can cause more damage than spinal or extremity injuries such as internal organ injuries (ex. post traumatic hypothyroidism, internal organ laceration) or brain injury.
In case the patient needs further evaluation, we are able to refer patients to specific imaging departments for MRI, CT scan or other imaging necessity or Lab tests.
Also, to make sure the patient has the best of all worlds, we have positive relationships with physical therapists, acupuncture therapists, neurologists, internist, orthopeadic surgeons and dentists (traumatic TMJ symptoms).
